Four Bikes and a Sunday You’d Better Not Turn Off (Literally)

A perfect day, four bikes, a cheeky Garmin, and one that just refused to start.

A perfect Sunday morning.
Cool breeze, bright sun, and that gentle wind that caresses you without messing up your helmet. I don’t want to ruin the day with Maggie (again), so I decide to get things rolling early: Gokhan is summoned for 6:30 AM sharp at my place.

Of course, he’s right on time. I’m already on my BMW R1150 GS, helmet on, waiting to head for gas.

But surprise! Two more riders are joining us. We’ll meet them at the gas station.

Except… they never show up. Or rather, they do—pushing one of their bikes. It won’t start. The plan? Never turn it off again. Spoiler alert: he’ll have to push it at least two more times.

We finally take off towards the countryside around Smithfield and Isle of Wight. It’s a fantastic day. Our bikes breathe the crisp air, and so do we. The lush Virginia greenery wraps around us, occasionally bursting into color with wildflowers.

All is smooth until… Garmin decides to have fun. During a break, I accidentally hit “skip,” and poof—our planned trip vanishes. The GPS recalculates a random route back home. Oh well—still a beautiful ride.

Today’s pack:

  • BMW R1150 GS
  • Honda Shadow 750
  • Kawasaki 300
  • Triumph Tiger Adventure

A spontaneous ride, a stubborn bike, and the beauty of the road—that’s what Motortherapy is all about.
